I love a good #ThrowbackThursday and boy oh boy, this is quite the milestone one! It’s cliche to say “it feels like a lifetime ago” but it truly does.

I didn’t exactly plan to take a break from blogging, but life has a funny way of nudging us into slower seasons… 

Is that a recipe? I’m more of a wing it and measure with your heart kind of girl but this combo is just too good not to share!

Long time to chat! Remember how this time last year we had just put our house on the market, were in the thick of doing showings, trying to find an rv, and going through the US immigration process (for Shane)…? Well, a lot has changed and here’s what’s new for the Kolkman’s…  

It may be “just a house,” but this sweet cabin of ours has made the very best home for our family for the past five years, and it will always hold a truly special place in my heart. 

It doesn’t even feel real that we only have a month left here. One month to soak up all the beautifully mundane things that have brought such joy to our lives over the past five years. 

Over a decade, and three children into my motherhood journey, I learnt then official term for what I’ve been doing all along: contact napping. 

I spent the last few weeks thinking and praying about what I wanted my word for 2021 to be... Last year was the first time I ever chose a word for the year and I really enjoyed the process of it and starting the year with some direction! 

I don’t know about your house, but over here, my hubby is definitely the most challenging person to buy for!

No, I’m not a big blogger that’s going to make money off of these ideas, and yes, I realize it’s already December, but I absolutely love doing these!  

We started back to our school rhythm, Shane went hunting and then sturgeon fishing in BC, and we’ve been tackling more house projects…  

It’s my 30th Birthday so I thought I’d share 30 things about myself… This ended up being far more challenging than I thought it would be to put this all together… I even had to enlist my mama’s help for a few! lol  

I decided to do something a little different here and dedicate a whole blog post to the favourite things we’ve gotten off of Amazon in the last month.  

Whether you’re in full on nesting mode, or just in a season of life, like me, where you have some extra projects to tackle, I thought I’d share some simple strategies I’m using for getting things done, without burning my pregnant self out.  

It feels like there’s been SO much going on over here and I can’t tell you how happy I am that things have started to open back up in our home province of Alberta and life feels a bit more normal again!  

Ok, so I feel kind of silly admitting this, but I first remember hearing this expressing from matriarch Michelle Duggar on 19 Kids & Counting… 

Truth be told, I thought I’d be more heartbroken at not having had maternity photos taken this time around. But then I realized how many pictures I take on a daily basis and so I decided to go through and find my favourites from this pregnancy….

I’m really not sure where the time has gone and how I’m already writing a 37 week bumpdate but here we are…

To be completely honest, April felt like a much better month than March… I feel like the shock of the pandemic and the reality of the situation settled a lot and we learned to embrace it for what it is and make the best of our time.
