Golly, life has been so busy lately that it seems like an absolute dream to have had a weekend with barely any plans! Especially one at home! I love going to our river lot, or having an adventure, there is something so nice about a weekend at home with my people.
Shane came home early on Friday because some of our most favourite people are back from an extended time away for an international adoption, and we got to catch up and have a nice dinner with them. Then he snuck out with Simon early Saturday morning to go measure a roof for a friend, and we ended up having Simon‘s buddy come back and spend the day here. I had a nap, Shane worked on some business things, I made a big pancake brunch, and we generally just hung out and chilled. There’s a 1000 things around the house that we probably should’ve been doing but sometimes rest is the more important option. We did manage to sneak away for a date Saturday night… Shane had to pick up his winnings at the auction by camrose, so we took baby girl, grabbed some take out to eat in the truck, and made a date out of it.
We slept in a bit on Sunday, rounded up the crew to head to church, and came home just in time to meet someone for Simon to sell his first dirtbike too. I threw a pork roast in the crockpot for pulled pork, and we posted a few things on marketplace. That resulted in us selling our little trailer, which is a big win because we are trying to clean up the random stuff around our yard. We all just kind of hung out outside most of the afternoon, I had an iced coffee in the courtyard, tried baby wearing Annabelle in a ring sling a friend gave me, and the kiddos just played and rode dirt bikes. After a nice pulled pork and raw carrot salad supper, Sophie had a dry grad party to go to with a friend so Shane took her and I just puttered around the house while Simon and Emma played in the basement, and Annabelle watched me in her jumperoo in the kitchen. She really is loving that thing. While I want to hate the large baby contraptions that take over the house, they do give me a solid 15 to 20 minutes every time. 🙌🏼 I was able to blast through some chores and dishes after Annabelle went to bed, which felt great to wake up to Monday morning!
Until I blog again,
Alex
